PU resin is a thermoplastic polymer material that takes on different characteristics when produced with different materials or production methods. It was first synthesized by Otto Bayer in the 1930s. Around the year of 1950, PU first appeared as textile finishing agent in Europe. Owing to increased environmental awareness and strict government policies, water-based PU coating came into being in the 1960s. In the 1970s, water-based PU coated textiles became widespread. Since the 1980s, PU has been widely used in different applications.
